Default LQ9 block

Hi everyone,
I am wondering what is the Max RWHP you can get from the LQ9 Block that it is been borded 30 over ? and whtat kind of main caps I can use for that ? For exmaple, I am thinking to make 1200RWHP with that block but I have been told that block wouldn't handle that much of HP due to the main caps are capable to 900RWHP so I would like to get an advice from you guys
Thank you

You might want to venture over to LS1tech and ask those questions. Those crazies routinely push the limits of those iron blocks. Vette crowd doesn't use it too often due to weight. Be aware that the LQ9 (fairly rare...expensive) and the LQ4 (common...cheaper) use the same block. 30 over is a pretty big overbore. Most try to get by with less. You need all the cylinder wall you can get at those power levels.

So what I understand from you that it is not a good idea to go with?

The reason of this thread is the problem that I am facing now "on my C6 2006 LS2" which is an engine blow by so I decide instead of fixing my current engine, I would rather of building this block "which is the LQ9 30 over". My car has a twin turbo so my idea of building the LQ9 is because it is an iron block and I heard the iron block is good for boost. Also, if I have the money, I would be gone with the LSX but since I am a student, I am looking for the something I am able to pay for

Over 937rwhp on a LQ9 block, no issues, stock main caps, ARP studs on the bottom end. We also used main cap girdle, although it probably wasnt required. This is stock displacement block though, factory bore.

LQ9 block can be had brand new from GM for around $800 and comes complete with cam bearings installed, ready to be cleaned and assembled. As far as the mention of weight, its not significant enough to make a difference in the way the car drives or handles. Ive seen ZERO negative effects. I personaly wouldnt want to go over 1000rwhp on the stock block, sure its been done and im sure there are several that have lived a long time. But with all the money you sink into parts, you would be better off flipping for a LSX block up front and not having to worry about it.
