Default Headers...Cam...Intake?

OK...so I am not at all new to the auto world nor scared of a wrench....but I am new to the C6. Ive read and read and read for the last week here..loving all the info.

I recently purchased a 2005 C6 Z51 with 37000 miles on it......car is a Manual 6 with Z06 clutch pressure plate..etc.

Currently the only other mods are B&B Bullet Exhaust and SLP Blackwing Intake. And some tune that was on the car when I bought it. The car sounds very good and runs nicely.

I am not looking to be the mostest fastest coolest interweb car builder...Ive already done that in the diesel world..lol

I love the sound though of a throaty engine, and the sound a cam offers.

I want to do about $1000 worth of engine modding..and with that I am seeing that I can either do a Cam swap, 102mm Intake or headers..OBX are fine with me....of course a new tune post modification. Will I mod further after this mod...yes probably but not right away.

So with that said which of the above would my money be best spent on?

Thanks...Scott

Heres a couple pics of the current rides...

Headers are the best place to start. The cam and intake don't do any good if you can't get the air out of the engine.

So the stockers are THAT restrictive?

I actually figured headers would be first...I didnt realize how restrictive the stock setup was.

Will the headers with Offroad X change the sound a good bit over what I have now? Much louder? Its not quiet now with the bullets...

Im guessing a new tune will be needed post install?

As said before, headers and a cam. Feel free to contact Shawn or Mike @ Lethal Racing with any questions you may have, and good luck!

Headers for sure. It will be louder also. My friend had LG lt's with the B&B and he had it for a month or two before he changed it out for the NPP. It sounded very good but was too loud inside and would drone.

Why OBX? I have Kooks and if I were to do it again American Racing LT's is the way I'd go. Just curious...

Why not?

The money saved is huge and Im not a brand *****....after reading and reading posts after posts it seems that for modest power levels.... 500RWHP or so...the OBX are fine...fit good, last well...and do what they should

U have a pre 08 vette, so your intake is crap.

Get an intake and exhaust. OBX is kind of a crap shoot. Either you will have perfect fitment or it will be off a bit. If you can weld then get the OBX.

Get a used intake off the parts section.

FAST 102?

Or I have read that a LS3 intake is decent as well?

Ls3 intake and manifold will not work on the LS2. The LS3 intake has rectangular ports to match the rectangular ls3 port head.

Get a used 102 for the ls2

Oh ok...I see....I had thought I read the LS3 intake would fit...my bad...I said I was new to the C6 cars..lol

I guess that would be accurate with LS3 heads??

Ported LS2 intake worth the money at all or no?

Id like to spend about $1000 this round until I recoup from purchasing the car..hahaha

I gotta disagree here. OBX =/= Mirage or other crap from ebay. I'm sure some of them have issues, but I can say the same thing about LG and ARH--nobody is perfect.

OP, if you're interested, I can PM you the vendor I bought mine from. $625 shipped to my door. Make sure you budget in new gaskets and good hardware and clamps. That is the single biggest complaint I have with them--the hardware was junk, but I knew that, and I expected to spend another $70-90 in hardware etc.

Like someone else said, the LS2 intake is very bad, as is the intake manifold. I'd do intake and headers as your first step though as that is the best bang for the buck.

Just my $.02

Well, since you've done so much reading you'd know OBX is not the go to vendor for power, fitment or quality. Do what you want champ, just trying to help.

I agree with this.

although as Justin stated 2 post above he had good luck with them as have many others, but many have also had issues.

Maryland speed hooked me up with a wicked price for kooks.

sweet car BTW.

I'm not going to hijack this thread, but you are sadly misinformed.

If someone wants to pay $1500 for headers, more power to them, but you won't get any more power or quality over TSP or OBX.
