ok guys this i kind of hard to explain but here it goes.
The lowering adjustment bolts.....on the driver side the bolt is bottomed out and fender is 1 1/2in above tire, on passenger side the bolt is all the way un screwed to keep the fender about an 1in above the tire.
is this normal?
i thought it was a worn or blow shock so i replace both rear shock with bilsien sports. Same issue.
were should i go from here? nothing looks bent either......
drove it for a week every day to work....then put new shocks on it and drove over 50 miles and after everything settled one side maxed out other side bottomed out and fenders are level....just dont make sence in my mind. if something is wrong i want to fix it. can a worn out rear leaf spring cause this? car has 75k on the clock.
Next thing to check would be your sway bar, there shouldn't be any load on either side when the car is sitting on level ground. If one side of the sway bar is bound up or loaded it will change the body height.
Contrary to popular belief the adjustment bolts are NOT there for lowering the car for appearance. They are there to adjust corner weighting. The weight changes diagonally; If you lower the right rear the left front will rise (more weight transfered to the RR from the LF). In my experience the cars are very close to correct when delivered from Bowling Green, both of my C6's were checked around 1,000 miles and were within a few pounds of each other on diagonal weighting.
Those of you that use the bolts only to lower the car need to check corner weights, note that the Manual says to turn both sides an equal number of turns to retain corner weights as delivered. Due to production plus or minus specs on various parts the bolts may not be the same number of turns from fully seated or fully extended as delivered.
OP; Check your sway bars for load first then if the sway bars are correct try raising the passenger side FRONT height with the adjusting bolt, see if the drivers side rear height doesn't drop. Remember, you won't see both sides of the car at the same time for a comparison of heights very often.
ok i will check that....a local guy is saying that i should replace the leaf spring?
should i look into that?
The nuts that the adjustment bolts attach to, are embedded in the spring. If one has come loose, or there is other damage to the spring, then maybe you need a new one. Beyond that, you shouldn't need a new one.
