Always wondered why FAST released a 90 and 92mm for LS1/2's? Porting a 90mm would easily become a 92 if not greater. With the TB's being 90mm ish to begin with what's the big deal with the additional 2mm to start.
You are right on, on that. Additionally, unlike most vendors that tagged on shipping to non continental US for additional profit, Hinson made concession, sent it to me at a price that earned my respect.
"If the unported 102 is as good as the discontinued ported 92... the solution seems pretty obvious." Right on again. Its like, if 90/92 was so good, discontinuing production would have been a poor marketing strategy! Fortunately, it was replaced with an improved product, that is made more stout and incorporated the fitment for C6 without the 90/92 homemade graft necessitate to fit!
I have an otherwise bone stock 27,000 mile 2005 LS2 with the A4 trans... which to my understanding is usually good for 330-340rwhp at best as it left the factory.
I added a brand new unported Fast102 and a set of Stainless Works 1-7/8" headers. I took it to Cartek, a local reputable tuner and had the car tuned and dynoed. The car made 381rwhp and 396rwtq.
That tells me the combination of intake and headers were good for a solid 40-50rwhp, maybe more... as I don't have a stock baseline to compare to. I've seen old articles showing factory stock dyno numbers in the 310-320 range also.
These were "easy" mods that anyone with common sense can install in their driveway on a Sunday afternoon. My car feels and drives MUCH better too. The Fast 102 and headers are money well spent... and should probably be some of the first mods done to an LS2 powered car.

And to add... the drivability of my car has not changed a bit. It has alot more power though and the shift points are much better also.
It was a fantastic upgrade all the way around. I feel the car now runs the way it should have when it left the assembly line.
On my LS2 the ported 102 did slightly better than the ported 92.
The 92 was done by Spin, and the 102 was done by Charlie at RPM.
Keep in mind the 102 doesn't need much work, and I believe Spin's 92's to be the best of what you can get...as he did a ton of work with the 92's. That's why I bought one from him, and was one of my first mods.
I believe the power difference between the 102/92 was in the single digits; but I would have to talk with Charlie to be sure. I was there when both of them were flowed on the bench with the same ported 243 head that ended up on my car.
I think the main difference came in when the 102mm TB was put on the 102 intake. That would make the most sense...as the new manifold is called a 102
