I have an LS7 that is has to be rebuilt due to an internal failure with a re-sleeved block (Darton). The engine is in a C6Z06 that is used pretty much exclusively off-road on the road coarses (advanced DE and time trials). I am considering going with an LSX block or is that overkill for a NA application. Anyone with direct experience using an LSX block?
its heavier but not overkill.. if you want a 4.125 bore you either use it or an RHS block or re-sleeve
All ready tried a re-sleeve, no thanks! I heard the LSX weight is ~ 80 lbs heavier than the stock aluminum block. What is the primary differences between the RHS block and the LSX other than manufacturer? It is my understanding the LSX block has to be bored to spec to fit the pistons of choice and can obviously be over-bored if you want. I plan to reuse my nearly new forged pistons. I was told the oiling circuit in LSX block was recently improved as well.

RHS block is aluminum versus iron for the lsx, there are obviously other differences too.... its Unfornuate you had issues with a resleeving of your current ls7... we use Steve at Race Engine Development, he has done many ls7, ls2, and ls3 resleeves for us without one single issue... in my opinion you might want to give him a call.

What is the general price difference between the RHS block and the LSX? I may give Steve a call but at this point I am going to cut my losses and replace the block.
We use RED as well Steve did my personal (LS2 re-sleev for my 457).
THe RHS is a badass aluminum block at about 4600.. The LSX is a badass iron block at about 2200. You can get just about the same combination with both.. the LSX is a good choice for boost or n2o

I think it's a bigger difference than that, might be upwards of 120 pounds more than an LS1/LS2 block.
It's the GM iron 6.0L (LQ4/LQ9) block that's roughly 80 pounds heavier I believe.
