Default 2007 A6 Vert Vette First Mods????

Here is my plan for my 2007 Vert A6.
LG Super Pro Long Tubes 1 7/8
Non Catted X Pipe 3in
CORSA Sport Exhaust 3 inch
Dyno Tune
Took the Vette to the Track once in Sealy, Texas and ran a best of 13.6@105. Was really depressed!! Was hoping for high 12`s.
My wife drives the Car about 15 miles roundtrip to work 5 days a week. Has about 35k miles on it. Don`t really want to do the Heads/Cam package yet, maybe down the road.
I`m hoping these Mods can get me to a 12.0 1/4 with DR`s on the rear.
Also, is it worth the $800 to get the FAST 102mm Intake???
What type HP gains could I see from the FAST 102mm Intake??
Can I get to 12.0 1/4 (Houston Area Tracks) or better with these Mods??? INput is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!
Thanks!!

Scorpion King I have a 07 coupe auto (bone stock). The best I've run is 13.0 street tires . Do the CAI also if your going to do the exhaust and tune. I think the best bang for your buck would be change the rear end and get a transmission tune if you want to go quicker. Our rear ends were made for the highway.
You may want to post this in the drag racing section.

Looking at your BIO your new to the forum I'm guessing. If so Welcome to the club.

I think short of using nitrous you are gonna have a hard time getting to your goal from where you are now. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with spray if used properly. I've had cars on nitrous and been very very happy with them. If you don't want to do that then it will take every bit of a Fast intake and all the typical trimmings to get you there rear gear included.

Another post on Corvette forum about stock LS2 & LS3 Vette 1/4 mile times.

The LS2 run 12.5 & 12.6 with the auto trans
The LS3 run 12.1 & 12.2

Since I've defected back to the Ford camp in a 2011 5.0 automatic, I thought you guys would find this interesting.
I have a cai, tune and Flowmaster axleback.

5.0 Mustang vs LS2 Vette vs LS3 Vette
I have owned all 3 and was interested in a comparison.

I ran two of my LS2 Vettes at the track, the automatic went 12.57@110 (1.92 60') with a Magnaflow catback and the manual ran a 12.55@115.85 (2.02 60') with a cai and Corsa catback.

I never ran my ls3 automatic, but it felt much faster than either ls2 & forget about my C6 Z06, that was insane.

Anyways....

I spent a couple of hours gathering dyno #s and track times for all 3 in stock configurations and here is what I found after averaging them out:

LS2 Vette - weight 3250 - 400hp
auto - 339rwhp (15% loss) - 12.6@112.5
manual - 349rwhp (13% loss) - 12.5@113.4

LS3 Vette - weight 3250 - 430hp-436hp w/ factory NPP exhaust (avg 433hp)
auto - 376rwhp (13% loss) - 12.1@116.2
manual - 389rwhp (10% loss) - 12.2@117

5.0 Mustang - weight 3650 - 412hp
auto - 359rwhp (13% loss) - 12.7@112.5
manual - 375rwhp (9% loss) - 12.7@111.7

5.0 Mustang with a tune or tune and cai
auto - 12.2@114.3 - 377rwhp (tune only) - 389rwhp (tune and cai)
manual - 12.4@112.6

Mustang #s were hard to come by and I tried to use only runs on stock tires.
All the Vette runs were on stock tires and completely factory stock down to the air filter.

I did not get dyno #s for the manual tranny with a tune, if people post them I will add it.

Keep in mind, the 5.0 is at a 400lb weight disadvantage to a c6 Vette, so we will need about 35rwhp to keep up just due to weight.

As for the LS2 - we have the rwhp covered stock for stock by 20rwhp auto and 26rwhp manual, but we need 35rwhp to cover the weight.

As you can see we should be off by 0.1-0.2:
auto Vette 12.6@112.5 beats the 5.0 12.7@112.5
manual Vette 12.5@113.4 beats the 5.0 12.7@111.7

The LS3 is an animal, the auto ls3 has us covered by 16rwhp + 35rwhp weight = 51rwhp and the manual has us covered by 14rwhp + 35rwhp weight = 49rwhp.

We should be off by 0.5-0.6 and it shows.
auto Vette 12.1@116.2 beats 5.0 12.7@112.5
manual Vette 12.2@117 beats 5.0 12.7@111.7

The tuned 5.0 evens things up with 377rwhp auto which equals the LS3 and the cai and tuned auto 389rwhp gets us a 13rwhp advantage.

However the 35rwhp due to weight still hurts us and we end up giving away 22rwhp auto vs auto.

Results for the auto LS3 vs a tuned 5.0
LS3 12.1@116.2 to 5.0 12.2@114.2
You can see the 20rwhp in the trap speed, but only 0.1 difference in et.

I think after more times come in for the 5.0s at sea level tracks and with more track experience, the LS3 Vette vs the tuned and cai 5.0 will be a drivers race.

This is an earlier post from this Forum, and it is what I was using as a Baseline for what to expect with the Mods on my 2007 A6 Vert.
Atleast I was hoping for a 12.0-12.1 et based on the above info. Plus none of the above stated running DR`s on the rear.
Figured with the MOD`s I listed, I will be as quick as an LS3??
Plus it seems to me that @13.6 I have a "weak" running LS2?? Especially compared to the numbers in the above post 12.6@112.5 for the LS2 A6 Bone Stock. The Dyno Tune will definitely tell me where I`m at before & after
Thanks for the input & the Welcome aboard!!

I own exactly what you have---I did 1st what you did plus a Halltech CAI--that resulted in 38 more rwhp----next i did a mild cam--220/224/581/112lsa--that resulted in 42 more rwhp---next i had the stock 243 heads CNC'd by A.I.--that resulted in 24 more rwhp--so now i have exactly 100 more rwhp than stock....I still have a stock A6 & 2:56 gear. In another week i'm installing a ported Fast intake--I'll post that result when done--all of this work has been done by a big name speed shop in Mich. I've never run it at the drags, not really that interested in that, just wanted a FAST street car, especially at highway speeds. I have had a couple highway runs with it, the best one was with a 2010 Mustang Shelby 500---run from 65 up---at 110 I was 3- lenghts ahead The car feels fast, i'm assuming after the Fast goes on I should be alittle better than a stock ZO6---That's good enough for me !! That long article you just posted--very intersting !!!

Thanks for the info Musicman2. The above post with all the info came off of another Thread here on Corvette Forum. It was good with lots of info. One reason for hitting the track atleast once for me is to verify what improvements I got from the MODS. Like you, I just want a really good running street car. Thanks!!

I also forgot to add that to my list of MODS------------Varram CAI.

Also I see your Vette has the 2.56 gear. I thought I had 3.15, I could be wrong. I do know I have the crossed drilled rotors, & the Magnetic Ride Control, plus of course Traction Control. Would that mean that I have the Z51 package???? Which I think would give me a different rear gear??? Not sure.

All 2006 & 2007 A6 have the 2:56-----2008 up have an optional 2:73--some of the FASTEST A6 have the 2:56 gear

Don't put the cart before the horse. Install a hi stall torque converter as one of your VERY FIRST mods. Excluding nitrous a hi stall T/C gives the best bang for the buck on an A4 or A6. I would go for the Yank SS3200 or SS3600. Both of these converters have excellent street manners and will give you a big boost in performance. If you have the extra money you can also install 3.15 or 3.42 gears at the same time you do your hi stall T/C. After you get your T/C installed then you can start adding mods to give you more HP. IMHO the mods you mentioned won't make your car run 12.0 without a hi stall T/C.
