I'm thinking of installing long tube headers, CAI, and a tune on my 2006 manual 6 speed. It has a Corsa Sport cat back on it right now.
I wondering if the headers might generate to much heat and damage wiring/electronics under the hood on long trips? I'm talking 8-10 hour drives.
Comments?
Tom
I recently installed a set of Kooks Jet Hot Coated headers, I believe the heat is less than it was with the standard headers. If you are worried about heat, ceramic coating is a must
Between having the headers coated or not; coated will always lower the heat in the engine compartment. That can only be a "good thing" and all things being equal keeping more heat inside the headers "may" also produce more HP from keeping the exhaust gases hotter longer which keeps the flow rate up.

Lots of guys here have headers with no heat problems whatsoever. Depending on who you are driving with, they may find it to be a little loud, though!!!
Those of us who track our cars put much more strain on the systems than a constant speed cruise to another state. No problems in mine whatsoever.
With the sports, you will have some drone.
I just posted the state to state driving due to the length of time that the OP asked about. Most of my miles are due to very aggressive driving on the back roads of Texas with friends.

Yep you don't have to worry about heat, JUST THOSE 10- 12 LB JACK RABBITS. They mess up a corvette real good at 85MPH. Ask me how I know..
Not a problem at all. I think you will have more issue with the corsa being loud and having drone than issue with the headers.
Agree. Headers make a cat back twice as loud even if you get the high flow cats (which i recommend, they don't hurt power and might as well think about the environment).
if u get headers especially LG can u post a sound clip i wanna see how it sounds with the corsa sport and lemme know if there is drone.
I've just finished installing my LG street long tubes. I am really REALLY pleased with how they sound. I did the install on jack stands at my home. I'm one tired, sore old man!
I don't have a bit of drone with the Corsa Sports. I did install the hi flow cats so that may be the reason. The car isn't much louder at normal cruising speeds, but it does howl like a race car when you stand on it.

my suggestion would be to install the EE tunnel plate
that really helped with reducing the heat in my wife's 05 big time
outside of that, we didn't have the car that long for me to tell the difference, other then the headers were a nice addition for sure
