Same part.

I had my harmonic balancer replaced under warranty last month.
The new balancer has a very slight wobble which is barely noticeable.

It is definitely better than the old balancer it replaced.
It appears this is a common issue with the OEM balancer.

OP: If you are having problems with your stock oem unit, please take a look at an ATI unit.

My car is out off warranty. GM Canada has aggreed to pay 25% of the $1300 repair. I'll get it done and sue in small claims court for a refund AND damages.

GM Customer service SUCKS!

C6 Topless...are you still under warranty??

Lucky for me, my warranty is not yet expired. If it was expired, I would not be at the stealership and I would be putting in an aftermarket one..Personally, although I know how to do the install and have the tools, I just hate doing it as it is a pain in the @ss.

Also the ATI unit will be going into my vette the next time it goes out. They are highly reliable and have an excellent history with the LS2 engine.

As an FYI, if your dealer has one in stock, he probably wont know about the new ones set to come out. My dealer only found out about it when he had to open a **** case. GM is working with a new vendor to manufacture a new improved part.

I am on the "waiting list" for a harmonic balancer... Seems there is a severe back order right now. I was quoted the 12th of April as the earliest my dealer can get one in stock. Seems there is a new vendor involved.

btw---- I tried to work a deal with the dealer to install a ATI which I would provide them and they would provide the labor. They are considering it if they cannot get a harmonic balancer in a reasonable amount of time. Others on the wait list may try this approach if you are close to the warranty ending.

I guess if yours is due on the 12th, I should get mine soon because I've been waiting two weeks....
They won't do the ATI, I asked them....

That sounds like a win win for both parties... IMO

Cryoman ...it is a problem that has existed since the introduction of the C6 and the quick fix they tried did not work. It is a definite design flaw as the failure rate is way too high. It does not suprise me that a new design / vendor is being sought now.

The dealer replaced mine the first time with factory unit, but still not fixed. I'm still under extend warranty and going to try and have them install aftermarket piece.
