I had my 2008 on the dyno in January. It did 408/392 bone stock with no tune and just the factory NPP.

Actually, all stock 2008 LS3 motors would had to have been wet sump as the only LS3s to have a dry sump would be the (manual) Grand Sports which weren't yet available in 2008.
I'm impressed with the numbers you guys are posting. I thought 375-385 was the norm.
I was hoping for 415-425 with Halltech CIA, LG headers and a tune once my LS3 is installed. My previous Heads, cam and full bolt-on LS2 made 485/440. Granted, the cam was not big (Spin's 230/234 114+2), but it took a good bit of money to get there.

Impressing you is exactly why they posted those numbers.
In real life a Dynojet w/smoothing 5, SAE corrected will show the LS3 @ aprx 375 RWHP A6 and aprx 385 RWHP Stick.

Sorry, I disagree. I could care less about impressing somebody with dyno numbers. I let my track numbers speak for my car. My dyno numbers were not false as you seem to imply.

I'm not sure that's true. I would bet simple car variances coupled with engine break-in could account for the higher than normal numbers. I have heard that some engines can pick up 10 rwhp once the rigms seat, but have t been able to confirm that.
I'm not saying people are lying about dyno numbers, but there are far too many variables in different dynos and conditions for baseline numbers to really mean much.
GMHTP just posted their 2012 Centennial edition made 415whp but then it went and ran 12.8@112 at the dragstrip.
The LS3 is SAE J1349 rated at 430hp at the crank. Using a conservative 12% drivetrain loss, that puts the manual trans LS3 at 378.4 whp out of the factory.
There is a lot to be said for motors making more power after they've been broken in and have seem some quality mileage on the odometer. Perhaps the higher dyno numbers are from people who have put some miles on their car and the motor is, in fact, making more than the 430 from the factory.
Either way, the track doesn't lie(to a degree) and in my opinion, that's what really matters.
I do like that I can tell people mine made over 500 though. The previous 494whp number was a real let down. 517 sounds much better
