I have an 05 vette and occassionally it won't start. The AH and engine light came on and made a light ticking noise when the button was pushed. Does anyone have an idea? Thank you!

As this is an intermittent problem, I would say it is related to your solinoid failing. This is how you checked it .... Put your vette up on ramps ( suprisingly the starter is in a very accessible place ) the solinoid sits on top of your starter... Reach up and wiggle the post on the solinoid ...if there is any play, it is bad.....
If this is your problem ( which I am willing to bet it is) it is an easy and inexpensive fix if you do it yourself .... About $20 for a new solinoid. If you take it to the dealership, they will try and get you to replace starter.
Is is a MN6 or Auto? Any message on the DIC when this happens? Anything about the steering column lock?
It's not the mn6. The battery is new. The DIC show different lights all the time. Sometimes "service vehicle soon" "service active handling" "check engine" "low fuel" ect....
Now that you have provided that your vette is throwing different warning lights at different times, I am more inclinded to agree with my fellow posters .... Check your battery cables and load test your battery. Any autoparts store will load test it for free.
If that doesn't fix your problem, next check the solinoid.... But generally speaking, I have not seen a bad solinoid throw multiple codes. Last thing to check would be your alternator.

Ok. I will check the battery and the solenoid. Thanks for the advice!!

Also check your connectors on the BCM Body Control Module, you can give them a love tap, if you don't want to remove them. They are under the passengers foot rest, just pull it forward, the carpeted area. I have got a simular problem on my 05.
Hi, very noob to the site and any help is appreciated. I have a 2008 Vette paddle shift automatic with a Vortech V2 supercharger and boost-a-pump, and the mufflers that open and close. (work was previously done) For the second time in two weeks out of nowhere the car basically shuts itself down and displays every possible warning light it possesses. I have already ripped my scull open searching and trying all the helpful suggestions I have found in this forum and still nothing. The car has a fresh battery, as do the key fobs. Connections are so tight they might as well be welded. No evidence of fowl play in the wiring. and have wiggled solenoid and ecu wires and pulled fuses and swapped relays. Every time hit hit the start button the car shuts itself off as if to divert all power to starting the car (as it should) and yet nothing. The first time it happened it magically turned on (literally with the I give up push) but now its playing hard to get. Im at wits end Anything Ive overlooked??

Not sure if this would apply here or not but it almost sounds like a main power supply issue. So I will throw this out there.
Years ago had a intermittent electrical problem on a 7 year old chevy that drove me nuts for about 6 months. It would just shut itself off and not start. Even though I check and cleaned all the ground connections and tested the battery cables and many other wires, new battery ect. Every thing looked good. In the end in total desperation I replaced the negative battery cable and the problem stopped.

Thank you very much! I tried the other suggestions but unfortunately it didn't work. I took your advice and it had been problem free for about a month now. The car starts with no problem and I have not had any light on the DIC. Must be a dirty or a bad connection with the bcm.
Thanks!
