Check engine light

Would a check engine light come on due to low power steering fluid? I have a small leak that doens't show to be to low on level ground. However the past times pulling up my drive and into the garage, the light comes on. The drive has a slight grade. Maybe the slight grade and turning the wheel sharp to turn into the garage?

I was just curious if it could cause a code. I also had the dealer replace the oil pan gasket last week. If no one knows, I will have the shop run the code next week when the ECS blower goes on.

Elmer,
Can a place like Autozone pull the codes even if my check engine light only comes on sometimes? Does it have to be on for them to read it or are they stored?
