By cam only do you mean no bolt-ons, just the cam?

Cam only usually refers to headers, aftermarket intake and cam... Just with untouched heads.

Contact 21st Century Century Muscle Cars, a support vendor, as they are just south of where your at (per your sig) They have a nice cam package. I got that for a previous vette and loved it. I did have a halltech but no headers and it was still amazing.

I agree with 21st Century Muscle Cars. I would also call Dallas Performance. I'm having Dallas Performance stage 1 package installed soon. Both are good, reputable shops who do great work.

Considering your location I would go to Dallas Performance or do it yourself. I have never met Taylor but based on pure reputation and people I know, that know him, it wouldn't even be a question who's shop I would choose if I was not capable of doing the work myself and lived in that region.

If you do a cam though, do headers as well, car needs to breathe. CAI and Intake Manifold are not really worth the money unless your really trying to get every last tiny bit of HP out of the combination.

If you have the funds, look at the stage 1 on Dallas Performance website. They're using a blower cam for my stage 1 so if/when I decide to supercharge, I'm ready to rock

i have headers, CAI, stingers. just thinking of throwing in a decent cam on an M6 car.
i have had several different on my F-bodies and even a few C5's.
my problem is that ive been out of it for a year or so and trying to find out whats going on now.

Tons of guys here are or have been cam only. Now the tough part... a cam is a compromise; how do you want it to behave and where do you want the power band. There's an insane amount of off the shelf grinds from various companies that work well, or you could talk to a cam guru about your expectations and have one custom spec'd.

i have always like to good lope from a cam.
not real concerned about power. 2500 to 5000 rpm would not be bad but i know with a good lift your really looking at a min of 3K rpm to start power. no problem.
i may or may not do something with the heads. just really miss the sound of a big cam and thought i may just start there.
i had a cam only LS1 with a huge lift and a stage 3 clutch that i daily drove in heavy traffic. the surge on first gear was horrible. but i didnt mind.
just trying to get some ideas.

Duration and LSA will affect where the power band is, not lift. You could have a fairly small duration with more than stock lift, and a tight LSA and have a great low RPM torque cam that will lope. If you don't plan on spinning the motor above 5k rpm much then you don't want a big duration cam.
