Default Unable to open door!

Hello. I'm looking for some help her. My driver door will not open from the outside (keypad) or from the inside push buttom. The the emergency door release does work. My fob is working fine.

I have done the following without resolution:

1. Disconnected the battery to reset: did not work

2. I switched the key pads out (driver / passenger) the driver side that did not work DOES work when connected to the passenger side but the driver side still did not open, so I do not think its the keypad!:

3. Took the driver side key pad apart and cleaned: did not work

Any other ideas out there. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like the solenoid for the door latch is not working.

I do not know how easy or hard it would be to replace. Never had to do it. I would say it is part of the door latch mechanism in the door. This would mean the door panel would have to come off for starters.

U don't have to remove door panel! Just some trims around door jam and u can take the lock then. I'll do it by th weekend- have same problem but with passenger door. Lock is coming on Friday hopefully.
But I did took the old one out.

First, I would recommend you pop the ends rubber accordion tube in the door jamb and check the two connectors that are in there to be sure they are clean and properly seated.

My first guess would be an electrical issue. Start with the fuses for the LDCM. I would also read and post the DTCs. They will tell you a LOT about the issue. You will need a scanner to read them.. Drop by AUTOZONE and see if they will read them for you!

Good recommendation on the door connectors. Pop out the rubber accordion tube and fish the CONNECTOR out of the door A pillar hole.

Look at the female pins on the connector and see if any of them are bent, corroded, or damaged.

If all else fails, the DCM may be bad. Do all of the other functions on the door work properly?

Thanks Bill! Yes, all other functions work. The dealer said it is more than likely the actuator and I would have to replace the Lock assembley which is $178.46!

If it were ME,,,,,,,,,, I would get a meter and see what is really disfunctional.

I hate throwing parts at a problem only to find out it was something very simple.

The C6 is opposite of most cars. The latch is in the jamb, and the striker is on the door. All the moving parts are on the car side.

I PM wild bill about this today. I was unable to revmove the lock assembley (car side). I removed outed trim and two screws but I could not see a way to get the lock out b/c of metal framing. The chevy shop manager told me I just had to removed the two screws and connect wire plug. NOT so easy

Do you know the proper way to fix this??? Need help!!

The pad could be the culprit also. Maybe it is pressed together all the time? I would also look at that and try to bypass it to test the actuator.

Remove the "B" pillar inside trim that runs verticle beside the seat back. There are 2 or 3 bolts that secure the lock mechanism. You'll also have to follow the 2 cables from the inside manual openers, one bedie the seat and one in the trunk/hatch area. I'd check the electrical connect for power prior to removing all that though.
