Default Battery charging??

I let my 05 manual sit for a few weeks (yes it was in reverse) now the battery is dead. I have a trickle charger on it but it seems to be cycling. Under hood light is on for a few seconds then flickers over and over. Is there something I need to disconnect to get it to take a charge? Help is much appreciated I'm new to this beast.

Depending on how long it was dead, the battery may be sulfated. If it is an AGM type battery, you may try hooking it to a regular flooded battery for charging and see if that works.

The battery should not go dead in a couple weeks, so I would check the key off draw to find out what the issue is assuming that the battery was not 7 years old.

Also, try a regular charger, not a trickle charger.

Sounds to me like you need a new battery.

I usually disconnect one of the terminals when I charge a battery still in the car.

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought it used in Feb so no idea how old the battery is. No problems until now but I'll get it tested. I finally did remove the negative terminal hoping this would not affect the security system, etc as it does in some cars. It is charging now. Thanks much.

If you bought it with no knowledge of the battery age/history I would defintely put a new battery in it. Battery issues are some of the most discussed issues on CF. Weak batteries show up as a host of seemingly unrelated electircal symptoms. I would put the new battery in it, and, as you know, keep it on a tender if you're not going to drive it for a while.

Default 2005 troubles with batteries

I just put a new battery in mine 3 weeks ago and put the Ctech charger on it since it is not a daily driver, but my charger does the same thing - teetring back and forth from full to partial charge with the blinking lights.I let it sit 6 days while I was at the ocean when I got back the new battery was dead. yes it was in reverse to when in the garage.
