That is definitely at least part of it, yes.
Warm/humid temps, hot road surface and warm tires do not make for good burnouts (actually a good thing when at the track though ).
Not that it's a huge factor but, you do use premium fuel from a name brand station I assume? Could've been a bad batch of gas but I doubt it, plus a full tank versus a only a half adds some more weight as well which could contribute to some of this.
True (and I'm sure you know this already) but he's certainly not the ONLY one that can properly tune these cars or transmissions.
Is there a diference between a 2:56 gear & 2:73 gear--as far as shifting--trans gear ratio's---performance in the 1/4 or at passing highway speeds ??

Yes, at least a little bit of difference I would say, the 2.73s should offer a very slight benefit in all straight line performance related areas...but 2.56s can certainly still get it done too.

And well we know!
It's mostly about the speed vs. gear at the time of need.
Bone stock a 2.73 gear has an advantage in the 1/4. With some mods, the 2.73 will need to shift to 4th and loses the advantage, as the 2.56 can cross the stripe at 125 still in 3rd.
I just had Matt at ECS tune the A6 in my car and I could not believe the difference. The car would never break them loose into second before and I got the traction control to kick on with the 3rd gear shift around 75mph on the highway. Get that tranny tuned. They have AMAZING customer service to go with it.
