Battery is about 6 months old. I've never had starting problems or battery go dead for no apparent reason. Drove car one day fine, went out the next day and battery was totally dead - tested 4 volts and nothing was left on. I disconnected negative cable and put a charger on it. Went out an hour later and the charger was smoking hot, battery was not hot. Put cable back on and car started but a slight hesitation. Voltage reading on dic was 13.5. After driving 6 miles was still 13.5 - 13.6. Usually it's in the low 14s. Since the charger got super hot with battery disconnected from car this leads me to believe something wrong with the battery. Anyone have any input here what would cause the charger to get so hot? Thanks you.
I'm surprised it got drained to 4 volts without major current draw. Must be a bad battery
I'm surprised too. When I put the meter on it I was expecting 9 or 10v but not 4. And it happened over night some how just sitting there. I don't get it.
Saw your multiple post in different sections the past few days.
Checked your profile and you have an '05 and your issues with the harmonic damper.
You had your dealer replaced your harmonic damper and looks like you just got it back.....seems too much of an coincidence, maybe dealer inadvertantly drained your battery while it was there waiting!
Dealer R/R your damper, so its oem, we'll see how long the new replacement is going to last!
Actually this battery incident happened the day before I took it to the dealer for the HB replacement. The dealer just called and the car is ready. I'm waiting for someone from there to come pick me up to go get it. This battery problems has been on my mind the whole time. They never mentioned any starting problems yesterday or today when they contacted me to give updates. So we'll see what happens.
