I need some help before I buy some parts. I want to put z06 mufflers on my 07 A6, I know that is not a problem. My question is can I use the x pipe from the zo6 on my 07 A6 to make the system 3" from the cats back?
My setup was a little different but there were a few things I learned along the way. I have a 2009 LS3 A6.
I bought LS9 manifolds/cats/x-pipe and wanted to mate them up with the stock NPP exhaust. The manifolds and cats swap right in with no problems. The 3" X-pipe doesn't fit around the housing of the transmission. The shop ended up having to weld the 3" x-pipe into the stock 2.5" x-pipe, with the x-pipes cut and reducers welded in right around the x-pipe hanger.
In your case, even if you could get the x-pipe to play nice around the transmission, you'd have trouble getting the 3" x-pipe to connect to a 2.5" cat pipe without some cutting/welding.
