My 05 brakes locked up and wouldn't release after new pads and rotors, bled the system took out to bed in. started getting all kinds of service this and that lights. Brakes locked up completely, rebuild calipers, rebled the system, wheels would turn until I had system all bled out and put in gear to move our and the brakes were lockled up again. Can't even get out of the garage to bring to dealership.
Should not have needed to bleed system after rotor and pad replacement. What brand rotors/pads? Z51 or not? Are you sure you got the right rotor/bracket combination? Any pictures of them installed with the wheel off?
Z51, OE rotors and pads, you are right I shouldn't have had to bleed after just rotors and pads but after 2 lockups, I had to try something. There is something funky going on and I don't understand it. A towing service is on its way over to pick the vehicle up and it is going to Johns Corvette Service in Laconia, NH. It may be a proportioning valve is not working properly, just don't know.
Thanks
All four, everything was taken apart cleaned and lubed properly. We were able to get it on the tow truck, but there was some drag, if I had touched the brakes it wouldn't have moved. The brake pedal doesn't seem to be in a full up position but more like half way, and the brakes are locked.Go figure!
If I were dealing with one of my older vettes I would guess at a proportioning valve not working. But its in good hands at John's and I should know tomorrow. It was a bit of a struggle getting it on the truck but the operator was great and had some experience moving vettes before.Shop called and said it was locked inside for the night, first time in many years of owning corvettes and many other cars that I have had to have one towed.
She is home and the brakes are fine. They found numerous computer codes relating to the anti-lock braking sysetm as well as the traction control system. they cleared the codes and did a special system bleed and all was well. I didn't know that anti-lock brakes needed to be bled a special way and probably couldn't have done it at home anyways. My cheap obdc II scanner didn't read the codes, so I wouldn't have found them.
Thanks for all the help, maybe someday I can return the favor!
