hey guys i am looking to replace the cam in my ls2 c6 that is a track only car for some other cam that will work better at the track..
i had spoken to a tech at Comp. Cam and they refer me the 54-460-11
cam for the cathedral port heads.. or the 54-4700-11 ..both have 621-624 lift..is this ok or do i need to stay under 600 total lift..
When I was looking to rebuild my old LS2, most of the guys in the RR section recommended keeping lift under .580 if possible but defiantly under .590. You can make up the lost Hp by opening up on duration. Posting this over there may give you more suggestions.

When you say track, I am assuming you mean road racing where you will be at high rpms for an extended time. It's not so much peak lift that you need to worry about as ramp rates on/off the seat to maintain good valvetrain stability and not wear out springs. The cam you chose is based on the LSL lobe which is mildly aggressive. For example the XER is under .600, but is harsher. The XFI lobe is what I'd recommend for great power under the curve and they're softer. Tell me the rpm you plan to operate in/mods and I can custom grind you something.
