Just a thought but for only about 30 horsepower + effort to swap engines you might be better off just upgrading the ls2. I would expect you would also have a hard time selling a 2008 with an ls2. Good luck if you decide to do it though!

I kinda agree. If you do decide to do the swap, shoot me a PM as I just finished doing a dry sump LS3 into my 2005 LS2 equipped vette. You won't have the conversion box, throttle body or dry sump issues to deal with, but you will have to tune for the LS3 style MAF.
Thinking about it, a 2007 LS2 to 2008 LS3 should almost be a drop in except for the MAF...
Even better idea, just keep them both . I had to sell my last vette to buy my current car and while I don't regret the decision I both rue and lament it. It was a great car. If you do the swap don't forget to post lots of pics though.
I've done the h/c thing myself and I wouldn't even think about it unless you are going all the way, it's too much labor to half *** (great learning experience if you've never done it though). I would either get your heads ported/upgraded or just buy a set of finished heads (I used patriot heads on my c5, they probably make something for the ls2 that includes all of the springs, etc, inexpensive too). And don't skimp on the cam, you will wish it were bigger about a week after your done no matter how big it is .
If you are considering modding your LS2 and are willing to do the work yourself (no, it's not that difficult), you can make some great power. Many have made over 500 rwhp in their M6 LS2's. I had a very street able cam (Spin's 230/234) and ported stock heads and made 485/440. Others have bought used LS3 heads for $600 or so and made similar numbers to ported LS2 heads.
