Default Thermostat

I puchased a 2008 about 7 months ago and was woundering how could I tell if the last owner changed the theromstat to 160 degrees (Without taking it out to inspect). Also what is the stock temp and what is the benifit of a 160 over stock?

What ECT are you seeing when cruising around town and on the highway?
If you still have the stock thermostat, you'll see temps around the 200-210 mark.
Stock thermostat is a 196* I believe.

There are lots of opinions pro and con on 160* stats. I personally think a 160 is too cold. I have one in my car and the motor rarely sees about 185*. I'll be swapping in a 180* stat one of these days

Thanks, I'm running around 195-210 around town so It must be the stock thermostat.

only other way is to feel the hose around 175-180* to see if its flowing
flowing would be stat open and harder hose
higher temp stat should be closed at that temp and hose should be more flexible

more then likely probably stock stat especially if nothing else was done on the car

With those temps, I would be willing to bet its the stocker. Stock should be around 180*.
