I'm not all that knowledgable when it comes to the internals of a motor so bare with me on this. My last oil analysis showed higher than normal lead content. Could this spring and other debris have scarred a bearing?

I know it might be a PITA, but should I drop the pan to check for more debris? It might be overkill, but I would def feel better about it.
I would definitely check for other possible damage.....dropping the pan as well as pulling the valve covers would be good first steps. Especially check the condition of the other valve guide retainers & the valvew guides themselves. Hopefully the broken retainer dropped into the pan via one of the oil drain galleries & wouldn't have caused any other damage.
Im having a hard time posting my results. I'm out of town and all I have is my phone, but my lead reading was 27ppm compared to your 1ppm. Is it time to start pricing small blocks?

I meant short blocks. This is so frustrating. It might have the sky is falling mentality, but I feel like the oil analysis with the hard evidence on the drain plug is bad news.

I think you have legitimate concerns. I would definitely have your motor looked at. These issues could lead to motor failure if not attended to. What did Blackston say about your UAO ?
I suspect it's time to check for excessive valve guide and valve stem wear, particularly on the exhaust side. When the valves start moving around a lot it has a tendency to tear up the seals. Make sure you also check all the springs.
Yep.
You better pull the heads and replace the valve guides ASAP.
