Default Installing Long tubes

I am about to go start working on installing My LG super pro headers and x-pipe. Are they any tips or tricks I should be aware of before starting that will make my life easier? Thanks guys.

Get 2 bolts the same size as the header to head bolts and cut the heads off them. Use these bolts as temporary studs to hang the headers onto the heads as you install the header bolts. Makes things MUCH easier. Trust me!

The drinking beer advise was a great one, just be easy on the header bolts when you torque them down to the head. They break easy, ask me how I know

Your a better man than me, having Kooks installed Tuesday at Straightline performance. Wish I had the space & knowledge to do it myself. Have fun & enjoy that beer!

How about during david? That's what I am doing........

Got the old manifolds out. The xpipe is still a bit stuck in the axle back. Going to work on getting that out in a minute then time to put the new stuff in. So far getting the 02's out was the worst part. Chevrolet must hate their mechanics to put them in the way they did. couldn't really get my hands on the clips at all until the manis were out. Anyway time to get back to it....

I like the wrenching. Doing it yourself with a buddy or 2 is the best way to learn. Plus it gives me something to do while the wife is at work tonight. All my buddies are out racing this weekend so I am going it solo or we'd be done already.

I have done long tube header installs on a 2001 LS1 Camaro and my 2006 Vette. Good news:

Hardest header install in the world: 2001 Camaro LS1

Easiest header install in the world: 2006 Corvette

I got the drivers side header in and bolted up. the 2nd plug wire is touching the header and there doesn't seem to be any way to avoid this. anyone else with these headrs have the same situation?

Also noticed I only have extenders for the front O2's. that's annoying.

well I can't get the passenger one in for the life of me. It is stuck hitting the k member and the bell housing. Tried going from top and bottom and it will not freaking fit.

I bought my Vette with headers, but I did TSP 1 7/8th headers and poly mounts on my 2002 Firebird W/LS1. Never. Again. I may be wrong when I look at the headers on my Vette, but it looks like they could be done in an hour or two, vs a full weekend of fighting my Firebird. IIRC the only way the driver-side header to fit the Firebird was with the steering shaft disconnected, oil filter removed, motor free floating and pushed all the way to the passenger firewall (may or may not have needed this, but I'm pretty sure I did), and it had to straight up from the bottom of the car which wasn't easy seeing as I did the whole install with a jack and jack stands!

yeah drivers side was a breeze. I am 3_ hours into trying to get the passenger one in though and I am no closer to getting it in than when I started.

I have the same super pro headers as you and you will have to grind the frame down where the headers are hitting. Thats the easy part , wait til you run into all the leaks the x-pipe throws at you. I 'll never buy those headers again.

well mine are in but the car won't start. All it will do i click. I dropped the starter out to get the header in and it was a bitch to get the starter back in. Everything was plugged in and in place but now it won't fire up. It's just getting better and better.

Relax. Drink a cold beer. If it was easy anyone could do it.

Think about the wires you disconnected to remove that starter. Re check the connections. You'll get it. The battery terminal connections MUST be tight on a C6 before things will work right.

seems to be a bad ground connection on the starter. I can get it started if I mess with the wires while my son starts the car.

A buddy was trying to get me to put the car into sleep mode and in doing so now the window doesn't go back up when i shut the door. Not sure why its doing that now.

She's running like a champ now. Open headers sounds good. Now just have to bolt up the rest of the exhaust. Next up G6x3 cam.
