Default ls3 cam shaft

would a camshaft swap change anything much on the car if you were not planning to add forced induction?? or would it be just a waste of time. i am not very familiar with that kind of mod.

As cam technology marches forward it is quiet amazing how much power one can add by changing the cam and it's corresponding parts in a LS engine. Exhaust and a tune will really help as well and you'll need to upgrade some things like, valve springs, pushrods, timing chain and gaskets. Some have seen gains or 80+ rwhp where the milder cams (I consider 230* on the intake a realistic limit on driveability, others will say higher) will offer less. Read around and gain some knowledge, lots of info on here. The cam swap is very labor intensive, I did one on my 11 GS with the help of a friend and it pretty much too a complete weekend, I am sure there are guys that can bang them out it 8 hours or so, one last thing, most of the gains happen up in the rpm band, by swapping cams you aren't going to add the 200 ftlb torque increase of a turbo at 3000 rpm, you are going to have to rev it to make power, but it feels good when it's right.

Consider researching GM High Tech Performance Magwebsite for LS3 cams, because they have done some great articles.

The LS3 responds very well to camshafts. With our cams we usually hit 475-495rwhp. Depending on how you want drivability and how you drive the car will depend on the size cam you may want to put in the car. If you need anyhelp or advice please feel free to give us a call.
