I headed South toward the border today and while I was down there having fun, I thought I'd better check my MPG reading, in case I needed gas before I got back home.
Kinda give me a little slack for the pic quality. Those damn Mexican roads aren't real smooth.
So does this look about right with the cruise control on? I was expecting a little more at only 3000 RPM.
That'd bother me on jackstands. Like Ferris Bueller's day off.
So just curious now, what does the DIC read on jackstands?
I'm sure you'd have to turn T/C off or else it the motor would just bog. I assume the speedo is reporting information from the front wheel speed sensors, so your instant fuel economy should read 0mpg.

I can assure you this was on the road. While it's possible on jackstands or even on a dyno, the mpg would be a lot higher. It's necessary to have TC off to do a burnout, but the speedometer registers the speed at the transmission. AH needs to know the speed of each wheel independently.
I'm just trying to see the real world relationship of the aerodynamics to the mileage as the speed increases.

I've noticed my airbag light comes on as well at 130.
This was done on an airstrip rental.
I should have had my instant MPG on the DIC..that would have been interesting!
I can say, since I track each tank of fuel, that particular tank, with 3 180+ runs and a drag strip run on the way home, got 16.34 mpg (including the long drive to/from the air strip) vs. my average at that time of around 19 or so.
I have one tank that I burned completely at Sebring when the car was bone stock, that tank was 8.37 MPG!
While driving along a really flat, straight, deserted road in Florida; I did multiple tests of the mpg at 40, 60, 80 mph. That was on our 2006 and I don't have the numbers any more, but there was a big dropoff in mpg even from 40 to 80.

maybe its because an airbag isn't going to save your life in the event of a crash at over 130. or could be the constant g force on the seat sensors.
My 09 with the Z51 pkg. averages 13.0 MPG.That's a combination of city and freeway driving.I don't drive my car hard, but the MPG isn't that good.My 06 got 16 MPG average city and freeway griving.Oh well I guess I'll grin and bare it.
I usually average low 20's, averaged 30.1 on a 2500 mile trip i just took (with average speed of 73.5 mph, one tank was 37mpg average (Going up and over the cont divide at 80mph, this car seems to like high alt)
