Default Power seat problem narrowed down

Hi
Second posting with new info, I got my seats back from APSISUSA. 2005 C6. Neither worked. I was able to locate unplugged connectors and got power to the seats. The drivers seat is working fine. The passenger seat will not go back and forth but has power (will go up and down and lean). I can hear the motor working when I attempt to move it rearward but no action at all to the seat. I pulled the seat out, disconnected the motor via the 90 degree connectors on each end and took a drill to the main rail cables and they moved easily back and forth. I noticed the the tubes leading from the motor to the 90 degree connectors that attach to the main rail cable were empty. It looks as though they should also have a smaller drive cable in them to activate the worm gear that spins the main cable. Both sides (tubes) are empty. I have been trying to find a picture of the assembly to find a part number or what it is called, or even if I am right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dave. Thank you for the help but it doesn't seem to break the power motor assembly down.

Yes, I have been intouch with them and they are not sure what I need. That is why I am trying to get a handle on what is missing. Whether it is a pair of small cables that run through the tubes or a couple of small metal drive shafts. All I am sure of is that it has to be mechanically driven to work and I am having trouble locating a decent picture breakdown.

Apparently GM does not sell the individual parts and only sell the front power seat adjuster assembly that apparently includes the seat horizontal motor as a unit. That seems to be why I am having so much difficulty in finding a picture of that actual parts inside the tube that I need. Go figure.

There are 2 small driveshafts about 4" in length that go on either side of the seat at the front. Let me see if I can dig up a picture for you.

You might check with Corvette Recycling to see if they have a trashed seat they would be willing to cannibalize for the parts you need. Just thinking out loud. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. I think Jersey is going to take care of me regarding the problem. I am glad to hear that there is a small driveshaft on each side. That or a drive cable was all I could figure should be in there. Finding a picture of the assembly broken down is nearly impossible. I even downloaded (paid for) a repair manual and all it showed was the complete assembly and said that it needs to be replaced as a unit, which it too bad as it would be an easy fix.

Onward

Those are great pictures. What I needed to see is actually well: The first picture on your list shows mthe outside of the assembly. The center horizontal motor has the black tubes running from it to each side. I am trying to get a picture of what the small driveshafts inside the tubes look like. I know there must be a mechanical drive inside to power the main cables as the motor turns. That is what is missing on my passenger seat. Somehow when they redid the seats, the shafts disappeared. Go figure.

The copper colored shafts are gone? Or the longer, thicker shafts inside each rail are gone? My copper ones fell out when I was experimenting with a manual rack, but they went right back in. I don't even see how the bigger ones could come out, unless someone deliberately removed them.

I don't know how many different ways to try and explain it. Not the gold cables (similiar to the old style speedo cables but much thicker) that run front to rear of the seat and plug into the screw shaft front to rear seat adjustment. The ones that are gone are the ones that are inside the black tubing that run from side to side under the front of the seat that attach to the motor and go in the side to side direction of the seats on both sides. They attach to the motor in the front center of the seat bottom and plug into the worm drive on each side of the seat that transfers the power from the motor to the drive screws (the larger gold colored ones). The tubes are hollow and I believe are just coverings for the small "drive shafts" that should be inside of them. I cannot be sure if they are shafts or steel type flex cables as GM doesn't show a picture of the breakdown of the assembly. They just want to sell the whole unit.
Clear as mud yet?

I think your first rely seemed to understand. They are the shafts from the motor that drive the copper ones.

It is. I may need to remove the drivers seat to pull out the part. This is really dumb but I think Jersey is sending me a complete rail assembly (an over kill but he wants to be sure the seat works like it did when I removed it). He doesn't have any idea where the parts may have gone. As my brother would have said FM? If you don't know, don't ask
