I've done about 40 ARH installs on the C6Z; having the starter die is too coincidental.

Although very basic, are the terminals secure and sqaure on the battery out back?

The ground wire is removed on the block to allow the RHS header to be installed, your 100% you have the correct ground wire on the block.........the large wire on the block will loop back towards the firewall and you will see the other end on the frame rail, IIRC

Take a pic of the starter removed and post or txt me the ground wire on the block

Thanks

Thanks for chiming in Steve, was hoping you or another installer would check in. The battery was the first thing I checked, terminals were tight, and I charged the battery just in case. I then checked all my connnections and wires to make sure there were not any cuts that could short out.
I did take the ground wire loose from the pass side to remove the manifold, there is one large ground that comes from firewall, along with one small ground wire that comes off the wire feed that goes to the starter. Then you have the one hot wire to the starter along with the harness that plugs into the starter. Correct?
That's the way I have it, and the way the diagram reads above.

The solenoid on the starter just clicked when I tried to start it. I removed the starter, but left it hooked to the power and harness and my father hit the start button. The starter engaged, but sputtered slightly then spun very slowly.

I ran a scan with my Diablo, and got the two codes mentioned above, tried to reset them, and they returned upon trying to start the car again.

Just to be clear tho, one wire to the top post of the starter, two ground to the block, a large and small one??

Umm, my only suggestion is, if you're having someone help you, have them inform you of the things they do!! My dad ha stuffed one of the loose wires down behind the head while we were taking the stock manifolds out. While endlessly following wires and harnesses last night, I found it dangling, put where it needed to go, fired right up!!
Funny how easy it is to forget how many wires go back where!! Shoulda taken notes!!

Glad you worked out your problem.

Look at it this way ... Now you have an extra starter if you keep your Corvette long enough where you might in fact need a replacement starter ... Or did you have to turn in the original starter as a core exchange?

Might even be able to sell the extra starter some day to someone that does in fact have a dead starter.

Ron,

Happens to all of us.

I find taking a picture with my cell phone of how things are run...before I take them apart....is really helpful.

Glad it worked out. Could have been worse, we all know someone who dropped a nut down a carb and lost an engine, etc.

Sounds like an O2 sensor lead.

That won't keep the car from starting. It'll make it run poorly though!

You're right, but I can't figure out what loose lead would have been stuffed behind the head
unless it was the purple lead wire to the solenoid, but I thought he originally said it was hooked up. Oh well, guess we won't get to know unless he tells us.
