I'm curious about that too. But if not defective, they should last like any other shock, no? Other than the special fluid, they look like any other shock. Just had one on my hands yesterday, while lowering a Ferrari, and it said 'Do not open or heat - under pressure-". Over time, they lose pressure, and/or start leaking. For what I can tell, they're not rebuildable, but could be wrong, since the bottom cap has 3 holes forming a triangle, so it can be taken apart with the right tools. Looking forward to the expert opinions ... although I'm not worried about wearing them out with the miles I'll use them .
Mine lasted approx 45K, blew the right front. I don't think the shock was defective but I don't think it was designed for what I was putting it through when paired with base springs. Shocks can not take the place of a stiffer spring and at one track braking from 145mph to 35mph really puts a lot of stress on the front suspension. I have since converted to coil overs.
After saying all that I still think the F55 suspension is the best all around suspension you can buy. Yes the shocks are expensive if one fails but if used within the parameters they are design for I think they will last the life of the car.
