I am doing an engine build. I have a lot invested. I just recently started looking into these. Think they might be a nice safety net instead of using stock rockers. I need a set that aren't going to change the Pushrod geometry as I just ordered new pushrods and don't intend on measuring them again. Looking for a quality set; easy home installation. If I can fit it in the budget and its a worthwhile part I will do it. Which ones are the favorite on here?
Most everyone I have seen (including myself) are using the Come Camp trunion upgrade. The stock needle bearings aren't captured well and are pretty sloppy. Comp Cams are a nice and easy replacement, took me about an hour once off the car with basic tools. Good peace of mind for the money IMO.

Did all of yours rotate freely after install? I found an older thread that mentioned a few per set would bind up.
A couple were more snug than others. I tapped the trunion side to side a hit and rotated it by hand until it loosened up - they all did. Just need to pay attention on how hard the bearings are pressed in and where the snap ring is in relation to other components. Not difficult, just use common sense.

Were there any spacers/depth gauge included in the kit to control how deep they were set? Seems to me that I ran across that being a possible problem on the LS1 forum.

Reason: Clarification

Not in either one that I did. If you have ever done machining or assembly, it takes a certain feel. Just don't go crazy pressing in the bearings. You can feel and see when they bottom out, the goal is to be consistent.
And one other question. Do these trunions change the contact pattern on the rocker tip?

They probably will, but you would have to re-check after awhile. I did mine at about 4k and the stock rockers were not scuffed too bad. I really wanted a "full" roller rocker, but was not that impressed with what is affordable. If I would do them it would be the Jessel set up. I did my Comp Cams trunions in the lathe as you do not need much of a press and pressing the bearings in as straight as possible is "very important". The kit I got comes with hardened flat washers to seat the bearings and the snap rings are only a safety measure as they are no where near anything. If anyone is interested in how to do it in the lathe, I would be more than happy to explain. If I used a vice or a press, I would use a good machinist vice with ground jaws that track very flat. Or an Arbor Press so you have some "feel".
The GM "stock" trunions are a real P.O.S. and have a lot to be desired!
