Default Clutch Fluid reservoir Level

When changing my C6 clutch fluid by Ranger Method when I am done I always fill the reservoir to the mid point between Min and Max as stated in the owners manual as to where level should be.Some of my friends who just purchased a ZR1 and another who purchased a Grand Sport, when I looked at their clutch Reservoir both were filled all the way past the Max line. GM owners manual says to fill mid way Factory is filling them all the way up. I am wondering which way is correct. Any opinions appreciated.

I think the later model cars have a different master cylinder. I think they changed in 2009, but I could be wrong.

I bought a Tick master with bleed line and it solves the "black" fluid issue.

With such a little reservoir, I always keep mine at the 'max' mark. At least on my 2012 GS, that's right at the bottom of the cap's rubber diaphragm, where there's plenty of volume left. And the fuller the reservoir, the less air space for moisture to get absorbed by the fluid . Just don't overfill it.

The reservoir you see is just a secondary to the main Master Cylinder reservoir that is lower in the car. The upper tank is just part of the fluid available.

I ranger'd mine & refilled it to 1/2 way, then noticed it was at the full level hot, after a 100 mi drive.

I think it's just fluid expansion, but I'd recommend only 1/2 way full, especially if that's what the manual recommends.
