2005 HUD won't work

The up/down arrow buttons wont move it? Can you hear anything when you push the buttons? If so its probably broken inside or came apart which has happened alot. Do a search here for hud not working for fix options.

Even the standard windshield should show a fairly good image. If the up/down adjustment isn't the problem, and you don't want to have it replaced by a dealer, contact Andrew6 and see what he can do for you.

If you're handy with a tool kit it is very simple to get the HUD out. The process is documented at length here on the forum.
If you're not confident removing the steering wheel and dash cluster etc then you need to be paying one of the excellent vendors on here to replace your HUD. Another vote for andrew6, top bloke.
What has happened is your mirror has fallen off the brackets very likely because the bracket has snapped/perished. It is very common and exactly what happened with mine. They are made of cheap crappy plastic.
I'm from the school of "anything can be repaired" but many are not so you may want to purchase a reconditioned/new HUD. They are iro 350 bucks I believe.
