Default Tranny question

As a newbie to Vette world, I was perplexed by the following statement on page 2-32 of my manual (2006) in reference to the stick shift:

"NOTICE If you skip more than one gear when you downshift or if you race the engine when you release the clutch pedal while downshifting, you could damage the engine, clutch, drive shaft or the transmission. Do not skip gears or race the engine when downshifting."

Here is why am am confused. This ain't my first stick shift (not by a LONG shot) and I have always used a rev matching blip of the throttle when I down shift and I have also skipped gears when down shifting as long as it does not bring the RPM above red line. The statement above seems to say I can't do this on the Vette. UNLESS there is something here I don't understand.

Clarification greatly appreciated!
