What about A4 05 cars? I plan to make about 500hp/475tq rw with a 3600-4000 stall, no power adder... Change it later or first thing?

I'm running a stock c5z06 diff with my stock 05 c6 axles. numerous 1.3 60s including some 1.32s and still going!

No housing changes only mounting point changes.

I probably said this before, but everyone with an 05 should be aware...

IMHO if you are drag racing your car more than once a year, it's just a matter of time before that case breaks and spits the pinion out the back.

When that happens, it virtually always either bends or breaks the transmission mainshaft, which is a $2000+ rebuild on the transmission, plus the cost of RnR the tranny.

The only good thing about the tranny rebuild is that it'll get rid of the first gear blockout issue at a dead stop 05's often have. But it's not worth the price to fix that.

If you plan to drag race an 05 you would be so much better off upgrading your rear to either a c5 or a 06+ and saving the cost of the tranny rebuild.

$1300 for a rebuilt diff with 4.10 gears is a great price on a great mod.

Any issues with stock c5 gears holding higher HP, lets say 800? Looking to run a 3.15 3 rib c5 rear in my 05 Auto C6.

Unfortunately for the OP, there is a $1,200 core charge.

I have seen more than my share of 05 diffs broken.......

Yes that's why I always jump in these threads and recommend people swap before they break...saves the core charge AND the trans rebuild!

Not trying to take business away from you or anything of course.

There is a huge difference between spending money on MODS

But nobody likes to spend money on REPAIRS.

Can you guys clear something up for me? Are you saying an outright purchase is 2.5k then? Plus the tail housing for us 05 owners?

So can I "trade" my serviceable 05 diff as a core for an 06 up diff? Plus tail housing of course!

Looking for some ball park costs.

That's Zip's pricing. We have low mileage used 06 up diffs (3.42's only) for $1,600 outright plus $400 for a new 06 up tailshaft housing. We can upgrade the diff with C6 Z06 parts at no labor charge if the parts are purchased though us.

Can you pm me the full price on all of that? New diff with ZO6 parts and the housing. How hard of a swap is that?
