NPP wasn't available when I bought my '07. I'm finally ready for a louder exhaust. Will a Z06/NPP system work for me? Will the valves open automatically at 3,500 rpm? I've heard of the M2W switch, but it is advertised for cars that came from the factory w/ the NPP. Is more wiring needed for M2W to work on my car?
Yes, it will work. BUT you'll need to do a bit-o-work to make it work. NPP will just bolt in but you'll need a NPP in a box kit. That will get you the parts to get vac to the muffler actuators that will open and close the flaps. A Z06 will work, but you'll need to get the mufflers cut off at the neck down point and have your pipes welded onto them. Yours has 2 1/2" pipes and the Z06 has 3" pipes. Then the same kit to get vac to the mufflers. The M2W allows you to open and close the mufflers when you want to. There is more to this so I suggest you do a search for the whole story.
I did Z06 onto my '07 and also did a Z06 onto my '12. It can be done and works well.

We manufacture and sell several control systems that help users like you add bi-mode exhaust to cars that did not come with it from the factory.
Our latest kit Exhaust Commander Elite All-in-1 NPP Retrofit kit has everything you need to control your retrofitted bi-mode exhaust, and has some amazing features. All you need to supply is the bi-mode mufflers. Our kit has everything else needed.
You use your Corvette door lock button on the inside door panel to control the mode changes when inside the car. And when outside the car you can use your Corvettes Keyfob!
When you change modes, the mode selected displays on your DIC and HUD (if equipped)
Its an absolutely amazing system that operates with even more features than a factory installed bi-mode exhaust.

Sunset Orange Creations (above post) is the only supplier of an RPM operated switch. He also has a full line of other exhaust controllers.
NPP mufflers from an '08 ONLY will bolt in, Z06 mufflers from any year will require cutting and welding. NPP from a 2009 or newer require changing your mid pipe to the 2009 or newer style, with the 2009 or newer it's bolt in IF you get the mid pipe and mufflers. You still have to get vacuum lines.
For the exhaust control switch talk to Sunset Orange, he'll answer any questions.
I bought my system from Southern Car Parts .... got a great package deal, extremely fast shipping, and communicating with Jim was always fast and easy!

Depending on how far you want to go with it you could do the simple install.
On my car I installed the Z06 muffs(an 05) and bought a "T" from the auto parts store and tapped into the power brakes hose then ran a line to the mufflers. When idling or cruising the baffles remain closed. When floored and the vacuum signal goes away they open automatically. The only thing I did differently was install an air switch to turn off the vacuum when I want(like cruising through a parking lot..lol). If there is enough vacuum with my decent size cam then I'm sure most would work even better!
