05 Z51 MN6 has been at the dealer multiple times over the past 6 months, replaced Steering column lock twice, car worked for a while then begin to start intermittently. Installed a Column lock eliminator from COH and the car ran fine for about 4 weeks. Car is currently at the dealer, replaced ECM and still throwing a B520... code. Not sure of the actual code, but can give it later. Told them to remove CLE and now the tech wants to replace the Steering lock module or maybe the BCM. They also gave me the option of coming to pick up vehicle. I believe my car is in worst condition that when I dropped it off. It was atleast starting after several "push button" attempts, don't know what to do....
Not sure if either is an issue (BCM/Module $$$), if anyone can help or may know a corvette speacialist in GA, let me know ASAP.
I had trouble with mine, when the cold weather set in. The drivers door was slow to unlatch. Would not start, just made hissing noises. Had to place fob in glove box location, then it would start. FOB wasn't recognized. I replaced car battery, FOB battery, still problems. Then it hit me, with cold weather I placed FOB in coat pocket with Iphone 4 which I acquired this summer, until coat time never had the two units close together. That was the problem, the Ipnone effects the transmitter/receiver on the car, my Blackberry, which I replaced, didn't. Everything is now back to normal. To my amazement the FOB is the heart of the car, all functions revolve around the car receiving FOB signals. I was ready to trade it, would have if dealer had car with options that I wanted.
I'm sorry to hear this. Could you please pm me your information (name, number, address, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealership) so I can check into this situation?
I got a call from them this past Monday, December 17th, to pick up vehicle. Car started, drove it home, and attempted to restart it again and experienced the same problems of no start that I did when I first dropped off the car. I have paid the dealer $1563 for labor ($1081) and refurbished parts that I believe I didn't need. Now they have towed the car back and will warranty their repairs as well as replace a BCM free of charge. Just wanted to give you guys an update of my frustration.
Corvettes of Houston sells the Column Lock Eliminator, purchased it and it works. My problems are related to what's being sent to the module. Possibly the BCM or something in the grounding.
PLEASE read and post the exact DTCs that they are seeing when the problem presents its self.
Call the STEALERSHIP and ask the service manager to retreive it for you. Hell spending that much money to have someone EASTER EGG in parts is outrageous. I wonder if thaty gave you any LUBRICANT with that repair bill?? And people wonder WHY we say bad things about GM Service centers!
If you provide me the DTC/s, I will try to point you in the correct direction.
Issue Resolved: Toasted BCM was the root of the problems. The dealer replaced it as a warranty repair for the work they already performed. I was appreciative that they covered the most expensive item at no cost. Somehow I wonder if only the guys would have listened when I first dropped off the car....(issue w/BCM)....If anyone has any issues with no starts, I would definitely be glad to answer any questions. At the end of the day, I've got a new SCL, ECM, BCM, SCM over the past 5 months at about $3K for all services performed.
