Brake question, can z51 front calipers bolt up and work on the rear of the car
I have an 08 Z51 coupe. I have an extra set of front calipers and brakets. Are the front and rear brackets the same? and would the front calipers and brackets fit on the rear of the car?
reason i ask is im going to be buying ccw sp500 wheels in the next month or so. I really wanted Z06 calipers but ccw told me that a 19x11 rear wheel would not clear the big 4 piston caliper. I was wondering if i could put a 4 piston caliper and bracket from the front of a z51 car on the rear of a z51 car, what would keep it from working, rotor size?
dbratten thanks very much for the info and pics. The willwoods are way out of my price range, but thanks for the idea. I wanted to do ccw sp500 and zo6 brakes but the guy at ccw said a 19x11 rear wheel would not clear. I dont really want the wheels to stick out of the fender, and again spending 1600 on fenders and another 1000 to paint them JSB is way more then i want to spend. I would rather have the ccws and scrafice the bbk. I will be putting a 305-30-19 mickey t et street on the rear wheels as the car has 484 rwhp right now and i plan on doing an LS3 427 forged shortblock over the winter with a goal of around 550 rwhp n/a
I did things backwards. I did the suspension first, the brakes second and the engine last. I wanted to make sure that when I got 550HP the car would stop. The problem is that I only got 548HP........
a little backwards, lol. I just wanted to see if they would fit i kind of figured they would but they would need a bigger rotor. I just dont like the look of the little caliper on the rear. With front 4 pistons on all four cornors i of course will be upgrading pads, rotors and steel lines.

I have around $500 in the conversion for two new C6 calipers, abutments, rotors, and bias valve. I did the work myself. Wheels on the rear are 17x11.5 widened O.E. repro 9.5s that were $125 ea. plus @200 ea, to widen. They fit under the fender with 335x35 Kumho 710s. I use 18x10.5s in the front.
I'd like to have all the fancy high dollar stuff but it's not in my budget so I make do.
