Great article indeed.

Bottom line is owners of unmodified cars shouldn't have to worry about the damn HD for the life of the engine (never had an issue with any other cars). But just like the PCV, many components are crap on this car, so will have to keep an eye on the HD after 5 years. Have a good one folks.

I think we need to start a list of all LS2 Fails and start a class action lawsuit. It is a joke this wasn't a full blown recall since it can strand you in the middle of nowhere...

My 2007 with 41K miles (100% stock) goes in Monday for a Powerbond since the factory unit is as round as an egg and now it is making noise...

Doing a cam since the labor for the pulley is so high...

My '94 GM 4.3 V6 also has the same designed HD. I took care of my 4.3 with an Fluidamper way back when and like the Vette, ended up sleep better at nite. So junk parts are everywhere.

That includes many mfg. changed from non-interference engine to interference engine design.

Motorsports the way I have treated it, is by resolving the known/proven problem areas, regardless of warranty and take it from there. Its a constant quest to improve. Especially helpful if you have the knowledge and capability. Otherwise, will have to pay then play. Hoping for the best and depending on others can be frustrating.

---

To borrow the words of Mr. Carroll Smith:-

I don't have much use for the pure theorist in engineering-the theorist belongs in research. The engineer makes things that are directly useful. I have never forgotten the words of a long-departed professor of mechanical engineering during my freshman year. "Gentlemen," he said, "if during your time at this university you learn how to design a piece of machinery, you will have become a designer. If you learn how to design the machine and to draw the assembly and its components so that other men can build the machine, you will have become both a designer and a draftsman. But, if you should learn how to design it, to draw it and build it, then, gentlemen, and only then, you may have begun to be a engineer.

---

We have lots of "Paper Tiger" as well as great engineer - good ones normally don't brag about their pedigree but let their action speak. That said, auto maker engineers can come up with great design but ultimately, bean counters will have the last says and time and time again, we will ended up with junks - just the way with our profit driven market.

Rant on!

Sounds good, install two main items and save on the labor.

I do not have a lot of info on Powerbond, but I have had my ATI for many many miles & also Katech uses them, from what I have read. Either way good luck with the upgrades on installs.
