Here is my thread outlining my mod path with dyno results and track results. Perhaps it will help you.

Not to take away from the OP.
I too am currently deployed but coming back very soon from a 9 month deployment and I am having my GF pick up my 2005 Corvette Z51 LS2 that I just bought this weekend. This is going to be my post-deployment/re-enlistment toy and I was also looking at doing some mods to this bad larry.

With out further ado, Alvin what was the cost of that build, and also I am somewhat local, at Ft. Benning down in GA and I wouldn't mind making a trip up to the shop to get the parts and installs done during a long weekend. I'm looking for reliable(somewhat) raw power, I don't mind looking at supercharger/turbo options either but I'm not trying to blow 10k-15k on top of buying the car when I come back. I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks

A stock fast is 12rwhp. Ported its 25rwhp. I've ported quite a few with as high as 33rwhp.

That looks like a great combo. Details? Stock heads or ported? What cam? Fuel mileage? I'm adding Pfadt headers and a ported LS3 intake this week. I'm looking to do my heads and a cam later this spring.

They were Advanced Induction ported heads and a medium sized custom cam. Stock intake mani. No idea what kind of MPG he is getting, sorry, I don't imagine this setup hit the gas mileage too hard though especially since it was a manual car.

LS3s hit 500rwhp with small cams without touching heads or bumping compression. If fact I've never seen a ported LS3 head do anything substantial to justify even touching them. I do think bumping compression helps your cause so plan on thinner gaskets.

LS2s dont hit those numbers with LS3 heads. The highest I've seen was 482 using the same cam with them. Trick Flow 225s are the head of choice on the LS2. Cars run 10.5s with them and the G6X3 cam.

This response is dead nuts accurate. Bank on it.

As another data point, I hit 474 in my car with the smaller G5x3 and AFR 205 heads I got for free. 10.8 @ 128 are the best I can do, perhaps a better driver could do better.

I read from Jayplayss2 who just put in the G6x3 and runs stock ported heads that it drives very well, it certainly puts out more torque than my setup, like 40 more lb ft. Here is his dyno from a 234/242 size cam to the G6x3. Gains across the board.

With AI ported 267cc LS3 heads this LS3 C6 put out 517/485 with a G6X3. The photo states it's an LG proprietary CNC program. That's pretty dang stout. http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX...cGM823Head.php

Lou Jr and I spoke at length on the phone about his personal car's build. His car made 501rwhp without touching heads or compression. He hit 517rwhp on his LS3 with ported LS3s and by bumping compression with his G6X3. Since the G6X3 hits in the 501rwhp and 1/2 point in compression is roughly 7hp and 10tq, ported heads arent doing much.

On LS2s with Trick Flow 225s and the G6X3, guys put down 530rwhp so it stands to reason that the Trick Flow 225s on the LS3 would be making 15rwhp more just by displacement. Save your money and get a proven head instead of porting stock heads that make near nothing in gains.

I hit 485/433 ls2 with ls3 ported heads. I have run almost 132 mph and ran 6.41 in eighth and 10.15 in quarter. Hp numbers dont tell it all. I have seen A LOT of 515-570 hp cars struggle to run 132. Just get the combo right and you will be happy!
