Default cutouts/tap into heated seats wire

I haven't looked into this yet, but can anyone tell me - when you tap into/splice into the heater wire for the seats - do you actually have to remove the seat or is there room to work and solder the wire? BTW - what color is the "hot" wire. Thanks.
