The Raptor is a very commonly used and popular shift light:

The single light might be good for drag racing, but for roadcourse use I like this one:

I put that Ecliptech Shift-i progressive shift light in my Z06 and it worked great!!

I like seeing that I'm approaching the redline, instead of just getting a light when I get there.

You can set the lower light, and the upper light - so you can tell where you are in your power band.

Both of the above require you to tap into a tach wire for a signal.

Here's another very good solution that you just plug into the OBD2 port under the steering column:

http://dashtronix.com/Progressive_Shift.php

Dashtronix is a forum vendor, and the unit is designed to plug right into our Corvette OBD2 port, and you can select a couple different modes of display, and the info is displayed on either or both the HUD and DIC.

There's also a bright LED light you can run up to anywhere you want to mount it on the dash or over in a vent.

So.....those are a few possibilities.
