Default seat wiring problem

06 3LT Z51 35k miles Dirven all summer, repaired, polished, and loved all winter.

I read a lot of post but I'm not real computer savey so I hope I'm doing this right. Two problems with the driver's seat. The air pump for the lumbar/bolster on my 06 is shot, armature is fried. Can you get a good used one anywhere? GM wants to sell me a complete kit instead of just the pump. They are about $200.00. Seems like a lot of money when all I need is a little air pump.

The second problem is of a more serious nature. The air bag light will sometimes stay on indicating a problem with the system. Quite by accident I learned that by lowering the seat all the way down the light will go out and remain out even after raising the seat back up. I'm sure this is just an open in a wire but I'm not sure which harness to check or replace.

Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Easy

Can't help you on the pump, but the air bag light is often caused by a loose connector under your seat. If you can figure out how to do it, separate them and then connect together again. Then, use zip ties to hold 'em together.

Another posible cause is the seat belt pre-tensioner (where your seat belt plugs in), it has a sensor and mine caused the problem when I accidentally bent it way too far.

This zip tie fixed my check air bag light. Move your seat as high and as far foreword as possible.

Good luck.

I had to pull the seat to get the air pump out. When I put it back in I'll zip lock the connectors. I just thought it might be a broken wire, open circuit, as they get moved around quite a bit with the memory seats. Thanks for the suggestion.
