Default Help me pick out a clutch

Car has the LS3, stock bottom end, fairly big cam, full exhaust and intake. Engine is currently out of the car and I figured this would be the perfect time to upgrade the clutch. I originally was planning to run an aluminum LS7 flywheel with a stock C6 Z06 clutch (already sitting in the garage). This would have been fine but I am considering a 100-150 shot on the car as well. The car isn't quite a daily driver but sees a lot of street time (some of it faster than others) and will also see the occasional drag strip pull and HPDE.

Will the LS7 clutch hold up to the nitrous? If not, what clutch do you recommend?

You already have a LS7 clutch in the car. RPS twin, Mantic, and McLeod RXT are all good choices.

The old Tex oz700 is also a good single disk clutch. I just cut a 1.50 and a 1.49 sixty foot with it (a few mid 1.5's too) and I am rusty as hell at the track. I have around 14 runs now spread over 2-1/2 years.

Here's H/C LS3 with an RPS twin. This car consistently cuts mid 1.4s to low 1.5s.

We like our BC2 which has consistently produced mid 1.3s to low 1.4s.
Good twin disc clutches will hold the 100-150 shot.

You car sounds a lot like mine. I haven't even launched mine hard yet and it's going low 10s with the Mantic twin disk. On my current best, it was only a 5000rpm launch and generous slipping of the clutch to get the 1.55. It was hot and humid that day and didn't want to push it with the mediocre weather but I'm still happy with how the car performed. I can slip it all day and it holds the nitrous with no problems.

C6z clutch/flywheel = 56lbs monster stage 3 with 18lb flywheel = 34?lbs.. I'm not an expert on this but the lighter clutch/flywheel will let you rev quicker and free up some hp, in return you lose More rpms during granie shifting, But the heavier set up will let you stay in the r's longer. I went from a stock ls2.. To a c6z.. Then A monster as mention above.. I noticed a big difference in the cars overall performance with lighter set up. You would be amazed what dropping 20lbs of rotating mass will do for a car!

I've never really seen anything bad about this clutch. How is the pedal feel compared to stock? Does it have a smooth engagement like stock? Is the pedal much harder?

I don't mind the pedal being a bit harder, although at the same time I am not looking to make it harder to press. The biggest annoyance is a clutch that chatters unless you give it extra throttle. If any of you have ever ran a spec stage III or similar you know the feeling I am talking about.

I have a fidanza aluminum LS7 flywheel and paired with the ls7 clutch is is only about 43lbs. I am not planning to just drag it so I dont want the extra rotating mass.

That being said, is there an advantage to keeping the aluminum LS7 flywheel (other than being able to run the LS7 stock clutch) for clutch choices or would I be just as well served using an aluminum LS6 flywheel and pairing a clutch to it?

The Tex feels near the stock clutch. No chatter...I can actually let the clutch out with no gas. Smooth as silk but maybe not your best bet for some record breaking ET's at the strip.

Boy I have never ever heard so many positive things about clutches. They must all be finally making good stuff. I like hearing that
