Default Mod progress and problems

I bought the car back in 2011, it's an 07 M6, the mods it had were a Callaway Cold Air and a Borla. The car made 36xRWHP/36xRWTQ, I can't recall the exact numbers but I remember the torque and HP being the same number which was kind of funny. The last round of mods I did Stainless Works Long Tubes, Stainless works X and their high flow cats, the car also got fresh plugs and MSD wires. This yielded 373rwhp/390rwtq on a different dyno, then it got a tune and the car made 383rwhp/399rwtq. I figure these are right in line given the stock LS2 Manifold, Stock throttle Body and pulley. One thing I noticed after the tune, the car is a lot more responsive, it's really fun to drive.

The only bad thing is I had been hearing a squeak, I figured it was just when the car was cold but it turns out the squeak was the harmonic balancer wobbling, which turns out seems to be fairly common given what I have read on here.

It is now time to replace the balancer with a Powerbond unit or an ATI, might want to consider having a cam installed as they are over half way there by the time they get to the factory balancer. Even if you chose to not do the cam, install a 10% under driven balancer either way.

The Powerbond seems to have good reviews, I am not sure about doing the under drive. I like to keep it using the stock size belt for simplicity, my 93 has an ATI that is the stock diameter. Cam's a tough choice, I don't want to give any drive ability since the car is so fun as is.

I've been running a PB on my turbo C6 for a couple yrs now. Good product for the $$.

Adding the right cam wouldn't sacrifice much drivability. But it would add to the cost somewhat to do it right. At a minimum I would add dual valve springs/titanium retainers, hardened pushrods. And personally I would spend the extra $300 to upgrade to Katechs high flow oil pump and C5R timing chain since you are already in there. Throw in a couple hundy for min tune/dyno time and you are easily over $1k depending on who grinds/sells the cam.

Depending on the lobes and lift he may only need a good single spring. Ed Curtis of Flowtech Inductions can spec you a cam to meet all your needs and pick up power all across the rpm range. I would do the Comp Cams trunion upgrade on your factory rockers while you are at it.

I think I found the correct part number PB1117-SS , seems to be the correct balancer in the stock size. I will call SDPC and order it on Monday, I have looked more and more at cams. I see a lot of similarities between all the different vendors, just the names changes.

To update, ended up going with the Power Bond in the stock size with an SDPC bolt, so wobbly balancer issue fixed. Also did a cam, TSP 228R on a 114 with their dual valve spring kit. Car made 432RWHP and drives like it did stock far as manners, only at idle can you tell it has a slight chop to it. Feels really good for what it is and the car picked up a decent bit of power from the cam swap. It'll stay as is for a while, this summer if I am off I plan to drive the car to Bowling green to watch the LTX shoot out and revisit the Corvette museum.

Thanks man. I may look at putting a blower on the car at some point.
