timing chain damper torque/thread lock question

Default timing chain damper torque/thread lock question

So in the 2009 service manual it gives the following specs for installing the damper. 18 lb-ft and no thread lock. I see many DIY guides specify 22 lb-ft and using thread lock. Is there any reason for this variation from the GM manual?

Its suppose to be 18 ft/lbs you can use blue locktite if you like. Can't say how many I have installed or replaced, thats what I used and never had one come loose.

Thats what the manual says 18 and I agree with a little blue loctite if you like. Sparingly

sounds good. That 0-8 section they reference has a warning about applying thread lock or other things to the threads unless specified because it can alter the torque required. Sounds like 18 w/ blue loctite works so I'll just go that route.
