I probably should have specified that this will be going in an ls2, not ls3.
I made 485/440 with Spin's 230/234 with ported 243's, 11.4 CR and all the supporting mods in my old LS2. Drove extremely well for a cammed car and made over 400 rwtq from 3200-6300.
Hi guys i got a katech torquer ls3 cam m6 with cnc heads and kooks headers 1/78 3'x pipe with a tune the car made 470 rwhp 434 tq 224/236 581/601 @ 113.0 lsa. If you go to youtube katech cam torquer ls3 224/ 236 581/601 113 you will see my blue 08 .
What do you think about these specs for the typical cam only ls3? 230/240 114
I think that a 230/234 pulls all the way to redline so there is no need to add extra exhaust duration which is only used to extend top end power past where the combo has its HP peak. You are also adding 3 degrees overlap which hurts driveability.
One of the guys who made the 478 sent his cam to be cam doctored and the 230/234 114 turned out to be ground as a 234/234 113.
Spin, what happened after he found that Comp Cams had not ground the cam to spec??? Did he send it back to Comp and did they exchange it for another 230/234 cam? Do you normally cam doctor cams you buy from Comp and install?
I used to see this all the time with aftermarket motorcycle cams. The only cams I got that were always spot on the timing card specs were from Yoshamura and were made in Japan.
