Default ABS Unit Leaking !!!!!!!

My ABS is leaking from the fitting/port in RED.

Is this repairable?

Is there any reason this cannot be sealed with JB Weld?

Is there a function to this fitting/port?

Is there any solution other than replacement?

Is there a source other than new from GM?

Hey Howie

Sorry, I have no answers to any of your questions.

But....What is that red stuff??

Are you running some kind of red brake fluid, or is that something else leaking out of there?

Take a look at this:

http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAssem...category=19393

I think that they currently only sell the entire unit - item# 4 on the diagram. Part# 89060341

You can get it a bit cheaper from a forum vendor.

Double check that part# before ordering!!

Part number 89060341 is just for the EBCM. That doesn't include the BPMV which is what is leaking. The 08 and earlier Delphi EBCMs are expensive compared to the Bosch modules in the 09 and newer cars.

He doesn't repair Brake Pressure Modulator Valves which is the part that is leaking. As for electronic modules he only repairs specific failures in specific electronic modules.

Thats a little different than what I thought. I am getting real confused about this now.

There are diagrams with part numbers on the other thread I started in Z06:

To my knowledge, you cannot presently buy the separate BPMV - you can only buy the entire ABS unit (EBCM and BPMV together).

Take a look at this diagram from that link in my previous post:

And here's the description for the part identified as #4, and it includes #2:

MODULE KIT. Electronic Brake Control
MODULE KIT,ELEK BRK & TRACT CONT(REQS PROGRAMMING;BRK APPLY SEN REQS CALIB;REFER TO SERV INFO)(ACDelco #89060341). Required: 01
For: Y (2005-2008) (2006 - 2008).
For: Y07-67 FRT & RR DISC ANTILOCK BRK(JL9),HVY DUTY PWR BRK(J55) (2005-2008) (2006 - 2008).
For: YY87 (2006-2008) (2006 - 2008).

So, I don't believe you can any longer purchase part# 2 in that diagram above separately. Part# 4 includes the whole ABS unit and is identified as GM/ACDelco part# 89060341

I know. The SM does call for replacing the BPMV without replacing the EBCM. I did find them called out separately on the Parts Taxi and GM Parts House sites (see attached pictures). They come from two different suppliers so there is no advantage to GM Service Parts in packaging them together.

Thanks Bill. I'm assuming the BPMV is everything that you see in the schematic. And that the EBCM is the plastic part that attaches too it that is not seen. I am finding complete units online for $3-500.

BPMV are the valve (valve body if you will), EBCM is the electrical brains attached to the valve body; it is the part that the electrical connector attaches to. There is an EBAY vendor selling complete units that are NOS (new old stock) that he acquired from the assembly line. I purchased one from them and it works great.

Thanks for trying to help

Getting one from a CF member with 12K on it. Looks brand new. Has the exact same PN on it as mine. Hope fully it will work for 120K miles like the original
