The melrose headers have been on my 08 LS3 for about 73000 miles and were on my 06 for about 20,000 miles. A total of 93,000 miles without a problem. Melrose headers are mild steel ceramic coated internally as well as externally and run much cooler than ss headers. The Melrose headers are also lighter. as far as permorfmance ...my 08 LS3 with just bolt-on was the first LS3 to get into the 10's. When I added a cam it ran 10.7's. I still have these headers on my car and added an A&A supercharger and the car ran a 10.15 on it's first day at the track with a DA of over 1600. My set up is using the Melrose 1 3/4" with flow thru cats. I'm just giving you some facts based on my experience which should be considered when making your decision on headers. Good luck. Most of the name brand long tubes will do the job.

I'm putting header on mine later this year. Melrose is one that I'm considering for the reasons that 'theofel' pointed out.
Mild steel is not as brittle as S/S..they are lighter, and they are coated inside and out. From what I have read from other forum members that have them...they look good and they fit good.
I assume that S/S would last longer than the aluminized steel, but the Melrose's will out live me.
