I'm sure this has been asked but the search came up with too many topics to sift through.
Can NPP be added to an 06 and work exactly like stock (no remotes, buttons, etc)?
I just want to be able to mash the pedal and it works.
Make sure you get the correct year exhaust when you buy. When I bought for my 2012 Grand Sport I believe I was told to buy 2009 or newer because there was a slight change in the over axle section. You shouldn't need a remote, but I would recommend you get one, especially if you have headers and cam. Here is mine:
The factory NPP system will automatically open the valves at about 3,500 rpm, and automatically close them as the RPM drops off. If desired, you can also install a separate override switch to open them at any time.
I was under the impression that most retrofits had only the manual operation, not the automatic.
Exhaust experts will set one of us straight pretty soon...
You can do it, but it gets reeeeeally expensive.
Go talk to your local Chevy dealer about price, then come back here and ask about alternative methods to do nearly the same thing.

In order to add NPP to a car that didn't come with it from the factory you will need to first get the NPP mufflers, then use a NPP retrofit kit to be able to control them.
The Exhaust Commander Elite NPP retrofit kit can operate like a factory NPP car, and open with a set RPM. Or you can choose to have full open and full closed modes also.
Check out the video!
Here is our Exhaust Commander Elite NPP retrofit kit.
It includes all the vacuum lines, wiring, vacuum solenoid, and controller that will make the NPP exhaust operate.

If you just run a vac line directly from the engine to the mufflers, they will open up when you mash the pedal--the engine vac drops when you punch it.

No. even if you bought every part from a later 'Vette w/NPP you would not get factory function since the ECM is involved.
Sunset Orange Creations kits come the closest to working like OEM.
Looks like Sunset kit could make it work exactly like it does from the factory, plus you can set the rpm at which it opens to something other than the factory setting of 3500 rpm if you want. So Sunset is actually better/more flexible than the factory option.
That's not going to get you what the factory does.
But the system offered by Sunset Orange Creations as described above will and also gives the extra feature of selecting the rpm's that the valves open and close. You don't have that choice with the OEM system.
