Increase CR on LS3
I am looking at trying to increase the CR to just over 11.1 by using a thinner head gasket and shaving the heads.
I have several questions, like should i shave more off the head or thinner on the gasket? Then how thin in the gasket is too thin and how much off the head is overkill?
Should I go with a .045" gasket or thinner?
I am thinking of going to .036" on the gasket and have no idea on the head.
There is the obvious questions of valve clearance and just blowing a thin gasket right out, but I think my max CR I want is around 11.2 or 11.3.
Also don't want any knocking problems.
Just want to know if anyone has done this already and what kind of results have you gotten on RWHP?

wow, can't even believe this doesn't have a discussion going yet.
Has no one thought of keeping their car N/A.
I'll add more later.
Have to call the speed shop and do my taxes today.

Hey JS,
The question about having a thinner gasket or getting the heads decked is really this. Is the thinner gasket as good a quality as the thicker one? If so, then they are effectively the same thing as you're reducing the squelch height the same amount in either case. This will have an impact on knock sensitivity etc, and is a better question those with more LS3 specific knowlege than I have.
HTH,
Bob
