Default Running Wires through firewall

I am attempting to button up my C6 supercharger project. On of the last things i have to do is run a boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and a wide band. The wide band plug is very large. What is the best spot and the best way to get it through the firewall?

Thanks,
Dan

There is a gromett behind the battery that alot of people including me run wires through next to the factory wires. For a wire with a plug on it you may need to drill your own hole right next to that same gromett.

Take a picture, or write down, which wires go into which cavities, and then unpin them from the connector. Tape them tightly together with electrical tape so they don't hang up, and then you can feed them through a smaller hole vs. drilling a big hole to fit the whole connector.

Look at the "curb alert" instructions/video one of the vendors has posted. You can run your wide band wires the same way and not cut any holes!!!

Thank Me, Thank ME very much!!!

I just watched that video. That is a good route to go with thin wires. Thanks for posting.
Probably won't work for amp wires though.

you can run them through where the hood release cable passes through the fire wall behind the dead pedal

Search "Curb Alert" in the for sale forum. There is a thread with a link to a video on how they run the wire.

This.

No need to drill. Plenty of room here for even electric gauges. Just remove dead pedal and re-use factory grommet.

What exactly is a dead pedal?

That rectangular piece of aluminum that you rest your left foot on. Looks like a pedal but doesnt do anything so "dead pedal".

The plastic one is held on by two screws. One toward the top facing forward and the other at the bottom facing left. Use a 10mm socket. I've never seen an aluminum dead pedal and assume it must be aftermarket.

If you push the grommet out, you can slip a fairly good sized plug through and then fit the wire to the inner part of the grommet before pushing it back into place. At least that's what I did when I mounted my wideband. I stuffed all the excess wiring and the box in the dash next to the glovebox. Then clipped the short pigtail that connects to the HP Tuners module to the short flange of the bottom glovebox lip that runs parallel to the floor when not in use. Totally out of sight, but instantly available when I want to scan.

You're right. The factory one is plastic. I was thinking of the aftermarket aluminum one.

I removed the dead pedal, and drilled a 5/8 " hole just above the dead pedal to run my large wires through. Once the wires were run through, I sealed the hole/wires with duct seal which seals against water/dirt.
One could also use silicone as well, but duct seal stays pliable and can easily removed if needed.

Default How did it go?

Just wondering how it went for you, I just got my pix wideband module with dash logic and wondering best place to run wire from o2. The curb alert way isn't bad but I don't think I have enough wire to go that route. I see the grommet behind battery I just don't know how long I can have the battery removed before loosing my car tune and memory . Thank
